"She helped me pass high school subjects that I had been trying to pass for a long time, such as Spanish, Latin and Greek. Not only that, she also helped me get A/A* in my A levels. There is no better teacher, nor one that I could recommend more than Vera."

About me
I’m Vera, a Classics and Modern Languages teacher based in London, and I have been tutoring for over ten years. I graduated from University College London (UCL) with First Class Honours in BA Classics and French, and spent a year reading Lettres Classiques at the Sorbonne in Paris. I now teach Classics and Spanish at a leading London GDST school, and act as TA and lecturer on a Master’s programme. I am also completing an official teacher-training Master’s, so my lessons draw on current research into how people learn as well as on years of experience.
My lessons are structured and detail-oriented, adapted to each student’s needs (including SEN). I use summarising, repetition and grammar drills, oral exposition, creative projects, games and flipped learning, supported by digital resources, and I connect what we learn to culture and etymology.
I am an empathetic and patient person who adapts to the needs and pace of each student; at the same time, I am rigorous and firmly committed to maximizing my students' potential, using an approach that seeks to encourage rather than force. I am proud to say that all my students have seen their grades improve, but—more importantly—they have also gained greater self-confidence and developed a passion for the subject.
